A recent conversation about puns in business names led to the conclusion that hairdressers are the most prone to advertorial punning. It seems that no-one is interested in naming their salon Jan’s Cut and Blow Dry when they could be calling it one of the following:
- Curl-Up and Dye
- Hair Today, Gone Tomorrow
- Cutting Loose
- The Brady Scrunch
- Hair and There
- Headz Up
- Hair-A-Fair
- Just Teezn
- Ahead of Style
- Cut and Dryed
- Hair We Are
- True Colours
- Talking Heads
- Cutz Above the Rest

hmmm…how about blogs? they seem to be pretty big on the puns–especially the book ones. ahem.
You’re right. Book blogs and bookstores are guilty of rather shameless punning. I will have to gather some examples for a future post.

Wow, thanks for the recognition. The Brady Scrunch has retro decor so you feel like your having your hair cut in The Brady Bunch lounge room. I often receive comments, “This is like the house I grew up in” (usually people over 40). The decor came before the name which was a stroke of genius from my partner Gary! I wish to extend an offer to your readers; mention your blog/website & receive 30% off their first visit. Offer may end without notice.
Now I’m going to have to come in and check out your decor Tracy! Thanks for the offer – you’re very generous!
